Heroes
During the past 60 years in Pakistan film industry, many actors entered in this filmworld and tried to become heroes in films. There were a lot of numbers of actors who appeared in films as hero once or twice but could not get the fame and name as hero. They quit or appeared in side roles in films.
In mentioned below list we are quoting the names and their films of such actors dubbed flop heros but some of them are the ones who are very successful as TV actor or singer simultaneously but we will also categorize them under ooney poney film Heros.

JAHANGIR (1948-51)
Father of Shamil Khan (who is also will be considered Oona pona hero in near future) worked with Noor Jehan in Chanvey, Ghalat fahmi with Asha Posley but could not be a successful hero and disappeared from the film scene. Other film was Tairi yad also.

S.GUL (1950-60)
He acted as hero in film Bayqarar opposite Raagnee. Other films were Director, Shararey, Iltija, Lalkar and Dil-e-nadan.

SHAD (1955-57)
He was the hero of Souran lata in film Khatoon. Other films were Nouker, Anokhi and Seestan.

AYAZ (1956-58)
He was Shamim Ara's first filmi hero in her first film Kanwari Baiwa. Mandi, Maska Polish and Mumtaz were other films.

SULTAN (1958-69)
He was very handsome and elder brother of Aourang zeb, acted in some films as hero like Gharjawai, Baykhabar, Mahdi waley heth, Teerandaz, Paigham, Ham matwaley noujawan, Tamasha and CID, but could not continue heroship.

HANEEF (1963-80)
He was called Paksitani Dilip Kumar in film industry with a hope that he would be a successful hero in future, but he could not prove. In film Hamain bhi jeeney do, he appeared as hero opposite Zamurrud and in Aarzoo, Azadi ya mout, Mairey lal and Manzil door naheen he was also hero but after this till the end of his career he appeared in minor roles in the films.

IQBAL YOUSUF (1965-85)
Big son of a big father Director SM Yousuf and a successful film director but as hero he was flopped. Aik Sapera was the only film; he appeared as hero opposite Aalya. Eid Mubarak, Josh, Suhagan, Hill station were the other films as supporting actor.

SHAKEEL (1966-77)
Although, Shakeel is still a successful TV artist, but as film hero, he was totally flopped. Opposite Rukhsana, he acted as hero in film Honahar. Joshe Intiqam, Nakhuda, Papi were other films as hero.

HAIDER (1966-92)

In some films he got powerful roles of Heros like Hamrahi, Adalat, Ghazi Ilam din shaheed and Laila Majnoon but could not be succeeded as hero. Dia aur toofan, Nizam, Pardais, Azmat and Shoka were other films in supporting roles.

ZAHID KHAN (1968-76)
He was the hero in film Mairi dosti maira piar opposite Rozi (an ex-east-pakistani actress of that time) but failed to prove himself as hero. Piar da vairy, Dia aur toofan, Anjan, Raja Rani and Aansoo were the other films.

AQEEL (1968-73)
Ex-husband of Noorjehan's daughter Zill-e-Huma and hero of Dulhan Rani. Fialed to improve himself and acted side roles in other films like Rangeela, Parosi, Heer ranjha, Mairi muhabbat tairey hawaley, Aj da mahiwal, Aaas, Dillagi and Parosi.

NASRULLAH BUTT (1968-72)
Heavy weight type hero appeared opposite Rani in some films like Dara, Aakhri Chatan, Mr.303, Sakhi Lutaira and Azadi.

MASOOD RANA (1968-82)
Pakistan's one of best play back singers appeared in film Shahi Faqeer opposite Ghazala but could not prove himself as a successful hero. Other films were Do mutyaran, Yard badshah, Do rangeeley, Noukar wohti da, Gama BA and Dostana.

JAMEEL (1969-71)
A handsome actor, father of Indian film actresses Farah and Tabbo, appeared as hero opposite Rozina in film Saza. Other films were Yeh aman and Gharnata. Failed to get fame and name and returned to Iran from where he came to Paksitan.

AFZAL KHAN (1969-76)
Only one film Sanjhi ghairat yaran dee (opposite Khanum) was on his credit as hero. Other films were Dilan dey soday, Rab dee shan, Yard badshah, Do rangeeley, Khushia and Sheeda pistol etc.

ZIA MOHIUDDIN (1970-72)
A learned man, famous actor of European TV & theater and pioneer of TV stage show (Zia Mohiuddin show) of Pakistani TV history. He was a prominent BBC TV actor and worked in many english films in UK, but failed as hero in Pakistani films. He appeared opposite Rozina in film Mujrim Koun and Shamim Ara's film Suhag.

NAZIM (1970-79)
He appeared as hero in film Shama Parvana opposite Mahpara (it was not Nadeem's Shama aur Parwana) and Mohammed Bin Qasim (Nisho). Struggled for heroship but failed. Other films were Yadain, Insan aik tamasha, Mairi mohabbat tairey hawaley etc.

JAMAL (1970-76)
Ghiristi (Sangeeta) and Raja Rani (Saloni) were the only films he acted as hero. In films Mohabbat rang laigi, Aansoo bahaey patharon ney, Thah, Zarq khan and Sayan anari appeared in supporting roles.

AOURANGZEB (1973-83)
Brother of another flop hero Sultan and husband of TV actress Reehana Siddiqui, appeared as hero in film Kubra Ashiq, April fool and Bey gunah but dubbed as flop hero. His face was resembled Shahid but did not give any benefit to him. Other films as supporting actor were pardey main rahney do, Bhahish, Bay aulad, Sachai, Gora kala and Deevangi etc.

AKBAR (1973-91)
In film Ghulam, he was hero of Aasia and some other films as hero were Rawal and Baghawat. He could not be established as hero and acted supporting roles in some other films like Aakhri muqabla, Iman tey frangi, Qatil haseena, Kali charan and Qatil qaidi etc.

RAHAT KAZMI (1976-82)
A big name of TV but not in films, he appeared first time with Shabnam in film Aaj aur kal (remake of Paigham) and then other films he did as hero like Insanyat, Mehman and Khandan. Rahat Kazmi could not established as hero and acted side roles in other films Muthi bhar chawal, Pakeeza, Aazmaish, Aap kee khatir, Saima, Jane man and Aas paas.

USMAN PEERZADA (1976-79)
He is also a big name of TV but failed in films as hero. Musafir (Beyond the last mountain-english version) was his first film. He appeared in some other films as hero like Sazish, Main chup rahoongi and then supporting roles in Susral, Kal dey munday and Parakh etc.

AASIF RAZA MIR (1979-83)
A successful TV artist, son of Raza Mir (Lakhon main aik fame) could not become a successful film hero. Miss Hong Kong (Babra shareef) was his first film as hero and other films Daman, Dard-e-dil, Wafa, Beevian hai beevian and Aaj aur abhi.

TALAT IQBAL (1976-77)
He was also a TV artist, appeared as hero in film Aag aur Ansoo (remake of Kaneez) with Babra and did some other films as hero Anokhi, Sholay pay shoal and Aag aur zindagi.

AYAZ (1980-87)
He was expected as successful hero but could not. First film Naheen abhi nahen (co-hero) and Aina aur zindagi (Anjuman), Aik din bahu ka, Aik doojey key liay, Ishq nachaway gali gali were the films he acted as hero and then appeared in supporting roles in films Naam maira badnam, Palko kee chaon main, Saas mairi saheli, Yeh zaman aur hay.

WASEEM ABBAS (1980-89)
Very popular in TV acting, son of Inayat Hussain Bhatti could not prove himself as film hero. With Babra shareef, he appeared as hero in film Manzil. Teena, Badaltey rishtey, Jat manjhey da were other films as hero. Returned to TV and now he is busy in TV production and acting simultaneously.

SHAFI MOHAMMED (1982-93)
Big name of TV appeared as hero in film Beevi ho to aisi and Naseebo wali with Shabnam but could not make place in film world. He did some other films Aisa bhi hota hay, Talash, Muhib sheedi and Ilzam.

BABER (1985-91)
Direct hawaldar (Sonia) was his first film as hero and did some more films as hero First blood, Chambaili, Dakoo kee larki and Piasi. In supporting roles he appeared in many other films.

SHAHBAZ AKMAL (1985-91)
Son of late Akmal appeared as hero in many films (all Punjabis) like Jagwar, Shikra, Kafra, Lal badmash, Nishan, Shaka, Chan punjab da but could not become Akmal.

SHAIRY MALIK (1986-97)
He was hero in film Hangama with Kuweta and in Shani with Babra shareef. Bayqarar, Mohabbat ho to aisi and Anchal were other films as supporting actor.

JAHAN ZEB (1987-94)
He worked as hero in film Janglee maira nam opposite Kuweta. Other films as supporting actor were Choron kee barat, Bazar-e-husn, Khuda bux and Sarfarosh.

MOHAMMED ALI SHEHKI (1987-88)
Famous singing star failed as film hero. Son of Undata and Choron ka badshah were on his credit.

SHOUKAT ALI (1986)
Legendary folk singer but failed as hero, Faishon and Dil man da are some of his films.

AZEEM (1987)
He worked as hero in film Dunya (Babra shareef) and in another saraiki film Theva and disappeared.

SAJJAD ALI (1990'S)
Big name in singing world and of the favourites of listeners but failed as hero in films. He worked in film Munda taira deewana opposite Sidra Khan, and other films Love story and Aik aur love story.

ASAD (1991)
Very good TV artist could not become very good film hero. Qayamat key baad, Sailab, Anhoni and Andaz are some of his films.

NASIR BHOLO (1991)
Appeared opposite Musarrat Shaheen in film Chatan but failed in acting.

ATTAULLAH EISA KHAILVI (1992)
Folk singer and favourit of truck drivers could not become a good film hero. He worked in Siron, Dillagi, Theva and Zindagi and in some other films.

SALEEM SHAIKH (1993-2005)
Brother of Javaid Shaikh but a failed film hero, though he is a good TV artist. Qasam, Chief Sahib and Yeh dil aap ka howa are some of his films.

HAIDER SULTAN (1993)
Son of Sultan Rahi but, not a successful film hero like his father. Babra, Soudagar, Khazana, Lahoria and Dunya mairi jaib main are some of his films.

MOINURRAHMAN (1993)
He was hero in his own produced film Khowahish opposite Babra shareef directed by Nazrul Islam. It was the last film of Nazrul Islam before his death.

MOEEN AKHTAR (1993-95)
A very successful personality in many field of show biz but totally failed as film hero. Tabedar, Mr. K2, Raaz and Sab key baap are some of his films.

ADNAN SAMI (1995)
Today's very famous singer of India and Paksitan, appeared in film Sargam opposite his ex-wife Zeba Bakhtiar, but failed in acting and got fame as singer.

BABBU BARAL (1995)
King of comedy theatre but failed in film. He was hero in film Shartia Mithey (Nargis).

GHALIB KAMAL (1996)
Son of yester year's film hero Kamal, worked in Mehdi and Chron key ghar chor as hero but totally failed.

ADIL MURAD (1996)
Son of legendary chocolati hero late Waheed Murad worked as hero in film Raja Saheb and could not be accepted as hero by cinegoers.

ALI HAIDER (2002)
Every one knows his name as a popular singer, worked in film Chalo Ishq larain but failed in acting field.

HUMAYUN SAEED
A successful TV actor and producer but a flop film hero. Sameena Peerzada introduced him in her film Inteha and later he appeared in films No Paisa No problem, Aik din loat kar aaon ga and Javaid Shaikh's film Khuley aasman key neechay but all films were flopped and Humayun Saeed could not become a successful film hero.

At the end we can include some more names like Fakhar-e-Alam (Very good Dunya very bad log), Ahsan Khan (Nikah), Faisal Qureshi (best TV actor), Sarosh (brother of Shan) who worked in one or two films but could not be succeeded.

Heroines
If we go through the Pakistan film history for the last 60 years, we find many names of actresses who acted in one or few films as heroines but could not continue their status while there was a big hope that they would prove themselves and become big heroines of Pakistan film industry. Despite of struggles they could not make their place as heroies and most of them survived by working supporting or minor roles in films. For readers interest such names and films of those actresses are given hereunder calling them ooni poni heroines.

GULSHAN ARA (1950-55)
She was the heroine of film Do Aansoo opposite Santosh Kumar. Gulshan Ara later appeared in film Amanat, Naveeli, Awaz, Deevar, Mujrim and Jheel Kinary.

SHAHEENA (1950-57)
She was the daughter of Rafiq Ghaznavi and step sister of Nasreen (Salma Agha's mother). She appeared as heroine opposite Santosh Kumar in film Baili. She also acted in some other films Judai, Intiqam and Nigar.

NASREEN (1954-61)
After minor roles in film Gumnam and Mujrim, became heroine with Habib in film Shohrat and with Sultan in film Baykhabar but could not continue heroine's status. Other films were Lakhpati, Chotey sarkar and Deevana etc.

NADIRA (1955-56)
Shabab Kairanvi introduced her in his first film Jalan as heroine. Nadira later appeared in side roles in Thandi Sarak and Morni.

KAFIRA (1959-65)
She appeared as herine opposite Habib in film Gumrah. Other films as supporting actress were Zameen ka chand, Taj aur talwar, Shair-e-islam and Kaley log etc.

TARANA (1962-70'S)
Her first film was Sukh ka sapna (1962), appeared as heroine in film Doctor Shaitan opposite Waris in 1969 and Jain Bond with Raza fazli (1971-a Pak Iran co production) but could not succeeded as heroine. Her face features were sharp and not suitable as Pakistani film heroine, but suits in vampish and western type roles. Other films were Kala Pani, Noureen, Jaan Pehchan etc.

SABA (1962-76)
After doing supporting roles in film Darwaza, Anchal, Chacha kham khowah and Pani, worked as heroine opposite Habib in film Phool aur kantey. She passed rest of her time acting supporting roles in films like Banki naar, Bhai jan, Chalbaaz, Roti, Dhee rani, Najo, So din chor da and other films.

KOMAL (1963-69)
She appeared as a heroine in film Fanoos opposite Salman Peerzada (son of Rafee Peerzada) directed by Nakhshab Charjavi. Fanoos was a flop film and Komal also dubbed as flop heroine. Sartaj, Shab bakhair and Neela Parbat were other films as supporting actress.

TARANNUM (1964-72)
Her face was resembled with Zeba, acted as heroine in film Aarzoo with Hanif (who was also oona pona hero). Jhuk gaya aasman, Badgaman were other films as heroine. As a vamp she worked in Arman (Zeba-Waheed Murad), Aag (Zeba Mohammed Ali) and Ghar damad (Deeba-Kamal).

HINA (1964-66)
She acted as heroine opposite Yousuf khan in film Misal but could not continue her career as heroine. Some other films were Khandan, Yeh bhi aik kahani and Hamrahee.

RESHMA (1966-69)
She belonged to East Pakitan (Now Bangladesh), acted as heroine opposite Rehman in film Eindhan and Ghar piara ghar with Kamal. Despite of struggles she could not be succeeded as heroine. Other films as supporting actress were Chakori, Chand aur chandni and Jeena bhi mushkil. She later migrated to Bangladesh.

SOOFIA BANO (1966-76)

In mid 60's Soofia Bano migrated to Pakistan. She got acting education from Poona films training Institue, India. Resembled with Indian actress Saira Bano, wife of Dilip Kumar and kept her name similar to Saira Bano name as Soofia Bano. Azadi Yam out, Marey lal, Manzil door naheen and Akaily na jana were the films as heroine with Mohammed Ali and Haneef. Other films as supporting actress were Parai aag, Pardey main rahney do, Noukar wohti da, Professor and Zuroorat.

REEHANA SIDDIQUI (1967-70)
A very senior TV artist, younger sister of Tilal Siddiqui (mother of Arifa Siddiqui) appeared in film Hamdam (1967-Khalil) as heroine but flopped, later acted in supporting roles in film Salgirah, Aanch and Beywafa etc.

ADA (1967-75)
She was the daughter of Zamurrud but known always her sister. She was the heroine with Nadeem in film Main kahan manzil kahan. After working in film Waqt kee pukar and Milap disappeared from filmdom.

SHAISTA QAISER (1970-81)

She first appeared in Gujrati film Man tey man as heroine opposite Agha Sajjad. As a supporting actress her other films were Shahar aur saaey, Rangeela aur Munawar zareef, Kiran aur kali and Akhri Hamla.

SWEETI (1975-80)
She was the daughter of 50's/60's actress Laila but known as her sister. Parvarish and Shakanja were the films as heroine and Zanjeer as supporting actress. Jana Malik, TV artist is her daughter.

BINDIA (1977-88).
Real name Rubina, struggled hard to become heroine but failed. As a heroine she worked in a pushto film Yadona Dolai (Asif Khan) and rest of her films in side roles like Baigum jan, Yado kee barat, Nazrana and Bara Admi etc.  

NEELAM (1980)
She was heroine in film Bandhan opposite Waheed Murad but not succeeded. She appeared in some other films in minor roles and quit.

AARZOO (1980-84)
Little girl like Babra Shareef appeared as heroine in film Naheen abhi naheen opposite Faisal Rahman and Ayaz. Other films as supporting actress were Doorian and Shikari.

BAZGHA (1980-86)

She was the heroine in film Amanat with Ghulam Mhaiuddin. In other films she appeared in supporting roles like Saima, Fasley, Aik din bahu ka, Raja sahib, Khoobsoorat, Naseeb, Insaf ka tarazoo and others.

LUBNA KHATAK (1986)
She appeared as heroine in film Baghi Qaidi with Ismaeel Shah and First blood with Badar Muneer and then disappeared.

MUNZA SHAIKH (1989-90'S)
She was heroine in film Disco Deevani (Sultan Rahi) and Jangloos (Ajab Gul) but did not succeed. Some other films were Kala pani, Jang baz, Sholey hee sholey, Chatan and Billoo Badsha.

SHAKEELA QURESHI (1989-95)
Favourite of Umer shareef and his heroine in film Mr.Charlie, but could not become a famous heroines and worked in some other films as supporting actress. Her other some of films were Mr.420, Paisa nach nachaway, Dushmano key dushman, Miss fitna and Sarmaya.

ROOBI NIAZI (1992-95)
She was the heroine in film Aaj ka dour with Arshad Mahmood and worked in some other films like Bahroopia, Ilzam, Jannat, Albaila aashiq, Chubey rustam, Mastana mahi and Naam kee suhagan etc.

IRAM HASAN (1993)
Known as good TV artist but not a film heroine. She worked in film Qasam opposite Saleem Shaikh.

KUBRA KHANUM (1993-94)
In film Gunah and Jaltey badan, she acted as heroine with Saud.

ANEETA AYUB (1994)
She acted as heroine in film Chalti ka naam gari and Sab key baap opposite Mohsin Hasan Khan, ex-cricketer and husband of Reena Roy, an Indian film actress.

IRAM TAHIR (1995-97)
She was heroine in film Nangey paoon opposite Faisal Qureshi. Other films were Shartia mithey and Qarz etc.

SIDRA KHAN (1996)
She was heroine in film Munda Taira deevana opposite Sajjad Ali. Other film Bazar band karo etc.

JIA ALI (1997-2001)
She was the heroine opposite Mumar Rana in film Deevaney tairey piar key. Other films were Dil Deevana hay and Nakhra Gori da. She could not be established as heroine and working in TV now a days.
