50 films in 2005
Total 50 films were released in 2005 - 13 Punjabi, 11 Urdu and 26 Pashto - The success ratio was better than last year. Two Urdu films Reema's Koi tujh sa kahan and Ajab Gul's Kyun tum se itna pyar hai were super hit and three Punjabi films Sangeeta's Ziddi Rajpoot, Kurian Shehar dian and Bhola Sunyara were super hit films. Almost 20 Pashto films were successful on box office.

Yasin Goreja passed away
Yasin Goreja Renowned film journalist Yasin Goreja passed away on December 26, 2005. He was best known for his film directories. His last film directory was on Indian films. He was 78 years old. He produced two Punjabi films, Mangti (1961) and Uchi Haveli (1971). He was story writer in film Tumhi ho Mehboob mere (1969).

Also four Punjabi films were released and only one of them was an average film. Pashto films continued to dominate, 15 films were released and four of them were block buster. only five film were flop and other six films were successful.

There have been mixed rapports on Ajab Gul's recently released film Kyun tum se itna pyar hai. This film got huge reception on box office but according to some film critics, the film is ranked as a B-class film.

Only 75 cinemas..!
Cinema There are 204 cinemas in Sindh province and only 75 of them are open in 2005. Karachi had 120 cinemas but only 34 are running. In Hyderabad only six out of 21 cinemas are left.
In Lahore, Naghma cinema on Abbot Road is closed after other main theatres on McCloud Road like Ritz, Mubarak, Rattan, Regent, Palace and Mehfil cinemas were closed due to film crises.

Pervez Mehdi
Famous Radio, TV and Film singer Pervez Mehdi died on August 29, 2005. Pervez MehdiHe was a Ghazal singer in the classical mould and disciple of ghazal legend Mehdi Hsssan. Pervez Mehdi was known for his mega hit Radio song with Reshma "Goriye, main jana pardes...". His duet song "Takk Chann peya janda e..." with Madam Noor Jehan in film Chann Tara (1973) was an all time hit song. He was born in 1947.
