    Agha Talish

    Talish was an international standards actor and he played some historic roles in some very big films like Shaheed, Farangi, Zarqa and Yeh Amman. He got breakthrough from a drunk role who sang "Yaro mujhe muaaf rakho, main nashey mein hun... (by Salim Raza in Saat Lakh in 1957). Talish played some unforgettable roles in Pakistani films. His role in Shaheed from 1961 - and then a remake of this film as Watan in 1981 was one of the best role on silver screen. He was "Ajnabi" - The Stranger (an englishman who discovered oil in the Arabian dessert). Talish also played a remarkable role as an Israeli officer in film Zarqa (1969). His roles as Nawab in Umrao Jan Ada and Zeenat were all time best roles in social films. He also played a fantastic comedy and title role in Barey Mian Deevaney (1977).
    Talish worked in an Indian film Saraey key baher in 1947 and he acted as hero with Rehana in film Apna Paraya in 1959, with Nayyar Sultana and Laila in Touheed. He was second hero in Guddi Gudda with Musarrat Nazir and Sudhir. Talish appeared in more than 450 films.
    Born as Agha Ali Abbas Qazalbash who belongs to Ludhina, Indian Punjab, was known as Agha Talish in film industry. He died on February 19, 1998 at Lahore. (by Mohammad Ayub Qureshi, Saudi Arabia)

      Naeem Hashmi
    Villain, Character Actor and poet

    Naeem Hashmi was not only an actor but also a very much respected poet and writer. He was poet of the all time best and famous film Naat "Shah-e-Madina, Yasrib ke wali...". (Some sources claim that this Naat was written by Tanvir Naqvi). Naeem Hashmi was introduced in Indian film "Chandni Chowk" in 1946 which was produed in Calcutta.
    According to an article by Mr. Arif Waqar from BBC Urdu Internet website on Naeem Hashmi's 30th anniversary on April 27, 2006, Naeem Hashmi produced the first ever short feature film "Inqala-e-Kashmir" in 1948 in Pakistan, but this film was banned after only one show in Ritz cinema Lahore. A patriotic song from this film "Salam a Qaid-e-Azam, teri azmat ko salam, tera Parcham hai tabinda, tera pecham hai zinda..." was a National Anthem of Pakistan before 1954 which was also written by Naeem Hashmi and sung by Saghar Siddiqi. According to the same source Naeem produced the first ever Stage play "Shadi" in Odeon cinema Lahore in 1948.
    Naeem Hashmi appeared in 74 films, 37 Urdu and 37 Punjabi. He played the title role in Babul. Other famous films were Khatoon, Noor-e-Islam, Azma-e-Islam, Shama, Ayaz, Sher Jawan and Banarsi Thagg. He died on April 27, 1976.

    His real name was Zafar Ahmad Butt (aka Jafra) who belongs to a Kashmiri family from Sialkot. He appeared first time in a Karachi made Urdu film Karnama in 1956. He struggled many years and got fame from director Haidar Chodhary's super hit film Tees Mar Khan in 1963. He was almost in every film as villain in which Allauddin was hero. Lai lagg, Junj, Malang, Phanney Khan, Nizam Lohar, Chalbaz, Punj Darya were some of them. He was villain actor in many of Akmal's films as well (Doli, Malangi, Lal Bujhakar, Dhol Sipahi, Bahadur Kisan etc.) and also in some other films as Chann Makhna, Sajjan pyara, Sajjan Dushman...
    He was seen in title role in film Goonga first time in 1966. Jigri Yaar in 1967 was one of his famous film in title role. He got positive roles from film Pagri sanbhal Jatta (1968). Lachhi, Sheran di jori, Langotia, Dhee Rani, Mukhra Chann warga, Aukha Jatt, Ishq na puchhe zat, Sheran de Puttar Sher, Sohna Jani etc. and film Anwara in 1970 made him a most for Punjabi films. This film celebrated platinum jubilee in Karachi. Then he played title roles in many films in the beginning of the 1970s. Khan ChaCha in 1972 was his best film as actor which was the first ever diamond jubilee Punjabi film in Pakistan. Asghara, Zaildar, Hashu Khan, Khazanchi, Mali, Sheru, Baba Dina, Qasu, Sardara, Pehlwan ji in London, Mera Babul and Budha Sher were other films in title roles.
    After the great success of film Khan ChaCha, he demanded a huge amount for his next big film Basheera but his role was offered to Sultan Rahi with less than 1/10 of total amount. Sultan Rahi's great success was a huge below for Sawan and latter he was forced to accept minor roles in many films til his death on July 6, 1998.

    Mazhar Shah

    He introduced a new style as villain in Punjabi films. His Barrak (brawl) was his trade mark, which was very popular in the 1960s. His first appearance was in an Urdu film Be-gunah in 1958 but he got breakthrough from famous Punjabi film Behrupia in 1960. Rani Khan was another famous film as villain in the same year and his pair with legendry film hero Akmal was established in this film as well. They were seen in many films together as Muftbar, Choorian, Chacha Khamkhah, Waris Shah, Pani, Ladli, Bharjai, Hath jori, Doli, Punjab da Sher, Soukan, Mann Mouji, Pililpi sahib, Malangi, Banki Naar, Jigri Yaar, Yaaran naal baharan, Chacha ji, Muqabala, Akbara, Run Murid and Sher Jawan. Mouj Mela with Habib in 1963 was one of his big film as performer. He was main villain in Pakistan's first platinum jubilee film Jeedar with Sudhir and Habib in 1965. Dil da Jani with Habib and Mirza Jatt with Ejaz were another big films by Mazhar Shah. He played positive roles in films like Malangi, Babul da wehra, Diallan de soudey and title roles in Sharabi, Sir da sain, Tamashbeen, Mehram dil da and Babul dian Galian. His main Urdu films were Mazloom, Ghadar and Farangi.
    Some of his other famous films were Daachi, Phanney Khan, Khalifa, Munhzor, Abba ji, Neelibar, Medan, Do Mutiaran, Jaggbiti, Pagri sanbhal Jatta, Kajla, Bau ji, Dhol Jani, Kanjus, Jani Dushman, Sassi Punnu, Jumma Junj naal, Chann chodhvin da, Nikke hundian da pyar, Wisakhi, Sheran di jori, Mouj bahar, Sajjan pyara, Jind jan, Geo Jatta, Mukhra Chann warga, Genterman, Veryam, Anwara, Maa Puttar, Asghara and many more...
    Mazhar Shah's real name was Syed Munawar Shah and he was a retired police constable. He died on October 11, 1989.

    He was basically radio artist in Hyderabad station and in the same period Mohammed Ali was also there. He started his career from Sindhi film and got a break in Urdu film Lakho main aik in 1967.
